The role of dietary management in canine gastrointestinal conditions is to provide a proper balance of total nutrients while meeting the special dietary needs of the patient. Dietary fats from long chain triglycerides (LCT) can be one of the most complex nutrients to digest, and fermentation of undigested fats can contribute to diarrhea. Medium chain triglycerides (MCT) provide a readily digested and utilized energy source. Feeding a properly formulated diet designed to be highly digestible yet restricted in long chain triglycerides may be beneficial in the management of certain gastrointestinal conditions while meeting the nutritional needs of the animal.  EN GastroENteric Formula is a palatable nutritional aid for dogs with gastrointestinal conditions such as gastritis, enteritis and diarrhea. Response Formula is designed to aid in the nutritional management of skin and coat problems in several ways. First is through fatty acids. Specific types, called omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, are important. Response Formula has an optimal balance of these two fatty acid types. Second, Response Formula includes alternate protein and carbohydrate sources which can be important if your veterinarian suspects that your pet's skin condition may have a food allergy component. Response FP, for example, contains protein from fish and carbohydrates from potatoes.
