We believe the best approach to your pet's health care is to stop problems before they start. Proper care of your pet is the easiest and best way to keep him happy and healthy. Our Hospital facility has two examination rooms, a large treatment room, and surgery room. We also offer post-surgical animal housing facilities.
Our facility offers state-of-the-art surgical
procedures, surgical monitoring,
and post-operative care.
We also have several options available for
anesthesia including inhaled anesthesia.
If a case is beyond our skill or comfort level,
we will refer you to a Board Certified Specialist.
T.P.L.O. stands for "Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy". Dr. Michael Johnson has received certification in this specialized surgery which involves removing the torn ends of the "cruciate ligament" (somewhat like your dog's "knee") and examining the "medial and lateral meniscus cartilages". If a tear is found, the damaged part of the knee is removed by making a curved cut in the top of the tibia bone "osteotomy" to include the "tibial plateau". The dashed line denotes the top of the "tibial plateau" which is then rotated along the curved "osteotomy" in order to level the slope. A plate and screws are used to hold the tibial plateau in place so that the bone can heal well and your dog can regain his full range of motion.

We also offer EKG, pulse oximeter and blood pressure monitoring
to analyze your pet's cardiovascular condition and
monitor heart rate and other vital signs during surgery and recovery.

Our in-house laboratory features diagnostic testing for

Our modern X-Ray equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure to radiation, while our automatic processor produces clear, quality films. Within minutes, we can have your pet's X-rays taken, processed and ready for interpretation by our doctors. We also offer certified PennHIP X-ray. Whether your pet has suffered an acute injury or requires diagnostic evaluation of a chronic illness, we offer the most advanced X-ray technology available to diagnose and treat your pet.

Every day a beloved family pet is lost. Tragically, most never make it back home because their owners didn't identify them. The MicroChip is the professional way to identify your pet and is proven safe and effective. A tiny MicroChip that contains a personal identification number distinguishes your pet as a special member of your family. The MicroChip is so tiny that it fits through a hypodermic needle. Just like a vaccination, it is injected under the skin of your pet where it remains safely for life. This inexpensive procedure can be done anytime and protects virtually any pet in your household.

When it comes to extending the quantity and quality of your pet's life, we believe that regular dental care is second only to good nutrition in degree of importance. Bacteria that live in the tartar on your pet's teeth produce toxins that are absorbed into the blood, and slowly damage your pet's kidneys and liver. Through regular dental exams, ultrasonic, and polishing, the bacteria are minimized, and your pet's life is enhanced and extended.
