7/7/93 - 6/24/10
Sugar passed away just shy of her 17th birthday. HWVH took care of all her needs since she was 8 weeks old. She was never, ever sick - HWVH kept her in the best of health - she never even had a cold. She did not like going in for office visits, and once we got there, we always had to sit with the dogs. if another cat was there. Special thanks to Dr. Balaj, who took the best care in the world of her. I have taken all my pets to HWVH for over forty years and wouldn't trust anyone else with a beloved pet. Thank you for all you have done for Sugar, and for my family, for all these years.
Our thanks to Manetta M. Argue-Raab for this memorial tribute
We'll Miss You Weeble
On January 15, 2005 Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital lost one of its official greeters when our wonderful "Weeble" passed away.
"Weeble" was loved by all of us and we will miss him.
Goodbye To Unconditional Love
Casey was 17 years old and the most loving, gentle, sweetest pet. He knew how to sense how I was feeling and was always able to pick up my spirits if they were down. I would like to thank Dr. Rajewski , even though he is no longer on staff, for all his years of caring for my pets. He was a compassionate veterinarian who always lightened the mood on stressful visits. I would also like to thank all the staff at Harper Woods, especially Sophie and MaryLou as they all took the time to make each visit seem personal and they too were always compassionate, which is so important when you think of your pets as family.
I knew he was struggling, To make it through the day, So I turned it over to God, To see what He would say. This morning I had my answer.
He's left a large hole in my heart, but God guided my decision. May you all be blessed and may God now be watching over my baby for me.
I loved you Casey with all my heart ~ Linda
We Remember Yoda
We lost YoDa to transitional cell carcinoma on Nov. 22, 2006. For 9
1/2 years he was our clown, our best friend and the light of our lives. In
true Tibetan Terrier fashion he laid on our pillows and stole our hearts. He
is missed.

We would like to thank everyone at Harper Woods for their kind caring and compassion. Dr. Balaj for performing surgery so skillfully and being so compassionate when he gave me the results of the biopsy. Dr. Brewster was so kind when he spoke with me on the phone. I knew what we had to do but I couldn't bring myself to make the decision. Dr. Ritzert had her hands full when the Hagen family came in that night to have YoDa euthanized. We were beyond devastated. Mostly we want to thank Dr. Rajewski for his years of guidance, kindness and laughter. YoDa always looked forward to vet appointments with him (and so did his Mom)! It doesn't seem fair that I lost my dog and my vet at the same time. Dr. Larry, you will also be missed. ![]()
YoDa isn't there anymore to warm my feet at night. He doesn't greet me at the door when I come home with his curly tail wagging crazily. I actually miss him barking at squirrels and practically destroying the blinds by the front door every time a dog walked down the street. Mostly, I miss watching him run wildly from tree to bush while walking around the neighborhood with me. Everything above sidewalk level HAD to be peed upon. I'll wait patiently for the day when we meet at the Rainbow Bridge.
Our thanks to Mary Hagen for Yoda's tribute
We Remember Comet
On Wednesday, November 1, 2006 we lost out friend Comet to liver disease. On behalf of Comet, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Brewster and the staff of Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital for your professionalism, caring and most of all, compassion in this difficult time.
We miss you Comet and will never forget the love you gave us for 14 years. Our thanks to Bruce & Ginny Unwin for Comet's memorial tribute
We Remember Curica
Curica came from a working dog family in Northern CA. I found her on a cold foggy night in January and brought her home to what was my home then on an orchard in CA. We were extremely close from the start and I felt she was a very old wise soul. Hence, I called her “Curica” - my momma. She saved my life twice in CA; once when my entire room was filled with bees and the other when I was broken hearted due to a traumatic loss of a loved one. She has never left my side . . . . until two weeks ago.
We traveled and moved
to MI in 1997 and it is here where she and I spent many days, months, and years
together through the most difficult of times. She was my rock and white angel. I was
astonished at how she took care of me. She would lie beside me and kiss my
fears and tears from one loss after another and watched the failing of my
health, opening and closing each day
in each others arms.
We always had our happy moments no matter what life threw our way. Each day, we had our own way of being happy and together. She and Plava (our other dog) and I would sing and dance each morning and night. We found the missing part to our hearts three years ago when I married a man named, Micha.
To see both Curica and Plava fall in love and so happy made me the happiest woman on the planet. It was then that we soaked up each minute of life that was new - this is as good as it gets. The four of us were more than a family – we were complete in heart and purpose.
Curica was brave, wise, playful, very intuitive and the best friend one could wish for. She never gave up being the Momma who cared for us all. And even on her last morning, she wiggled and tried to give me her 'kong' to throw. She never ever gave up her will to live or her good attitude. She was a 'frisbee' champ and had the best concentration ever!!
We miss her terribly but try to accept her absence. We need time. We want to say, "Thank you Curica, for all the great years and for all your help in being here for us.”
WE KNOW you were happy!
Our thanks to Diane K. for this tribute to Curica
We Miss You, Ginger
A note of thanks to Dr. Brewster and the entire staff for helping me make the correct but most difficult decision to put Ginger Down on Dec. 27th 2005. She wandered into our yard and hearts during a blizzard in 1990. It took three days before she would allow me to get close enough to pet her. My Mom who had just lost her dog and was alone needed a new companion. She lived with her until Mom moved into a nursing home in 2002 when Ginger came to live with us. Ginger visited Mom at Bon Secours nursing home many times until she passed away at 94. Ginger had spent her entire life in Mom's home and yard. The first time I took her to our summer home in Gaylord and ran her down to the Lake, she slid to a stop at the waters edge and just looked and looked. I guess she had never seen such a large water bowl before. The same was true of her first walk in the woods. So many trees, so little time. Over time we shared many great swims and walks in the woods together. I still miss her terribly and am not anxious to replace her and possibly face the same heart breaking decision. You were her only Vet from 1993 until her death. Should I decide to acquire another dog her first visit will be to your facility for a check up.
Gratefully Yours, Denis Schulte
"What Are We Waiting For?"
Here's "Logan" who lived a long and happy life. Logan was 14 years old when he passed away from Cushing's Disease on June 16, 2004.
Logan is missed by his family members, Sara Taylor, Cheryl Johns, and Treavor.
The Perfect Dive!
This is "SHASTA" doing her favorite summertime sport! She has had the BEST doctor anyone could ask for in Dr. Gerald Barnes & the nice Staff of Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital. We lost her 2 years ago at the age of 17. She was dearly loved and she is dearly missed.
